Join Learning Exchange on Domestic Violence and Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

The NYS Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence (OPDV) and NYS Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) invite parents and families to join a conversation about increasing access to domestic and sexual violence services for survivors with developmental disabilities.

Opportunities to participate include:

  • Small groups or 1:1 settings

  • Virtual or in-person

  • Daytime or evening meetings

Topics include:

  • Statistics on the pervasiveness of gender-based violence for people with disabilities

  • Risk factors that lead to alarmingly high rates of victimization

  • Barriers to accessing domestic violence and/or sexual violence services

  • Parent/family needs for resources and support

  • Recommendations for future provider trainings, resources, and technical assistance
