Congratulations to our New GEM Award Winner!

Opengate recognizes the exceptional commitment of its team through the GEM (Going the Extra Mile) Award. Each month, Opengate team members vote to select an employee who shows outstanding dedication, work ethic, and initiative in their life-changing work advancing our mission. The award includes a monetary prize.

Congratulations to Kristopher (Kris) Jenkins, our newest GEM Award winner! Kris engages with the people he supports and helps make sure they are happy and satisfied. While working at an Opengate residence and the Day Habilitation program, he’s gotten to know the residents and program participants, understands their needs, and encourages them to participate in meaningful activities. When seeing Kris and program participants together, it’s clear they respect Kris and appreciate the support he provides.

Kris is a positive role model who goes above and beyond. His peers describe him as reliable, helpful, friendly, humble, positive, and always ready to help. There are many examples of his skills and dedication. Here’s one — when a couple of residents forgot their lunch, he bought them burgers on his own time.
