Monica Healey
Recognizing over 40 years of service, from recreation specialist to CCO

Monica started at Opengate in 1982 as a recreation specialist. After holding several positions here, she became the chief compliance officer and member of the leadership team in 2023. Monica’s years of experience with the people supported at Opengate, and the relationships she has built with their families and the Opengate team, help her succeed in this important role.

Awarded Code of Conduct and Champion Award

Faith, an Opengate DSP, was honored with the 2022 Code of Conduct and Champion Award from the New York State Justice Center. She recognized that something was “off” with one of the people she supports, advocated for emergency care, and her quick response was potentially life-saving. All direct care employees sign the Code of Conduct, which promises to help those supported "live self-directed meaningful lives in their communities, free from abuse and neglect, and protected from harm." Faith was one of only six people granted this award in 2022.

Leadership Development Program Spotlight

Based on our commitment to promoting from within and nurturing staff growth, we launched our Leadership Development Program. Now in its third year, this onsite, small-group training takes place over a period of nine months and has fueled many promotions. Topics include time management, leadership, delegating, communication, self-care, and more. The training is designed to identify rising stars and help bring team members to the next level in their careers.
