Faith Howell Honored with 2022 Code of Conduct and Champion Award
We’re proud to announce that Faith Howell, a long-time Opengate direct support professional, was honored with the 2022 Code of Conduct and Champion Award from the New York State Justice Center. These awards recognize those who work tirelessly to improve the lives of people with special needs. Opengate applauds Faith for receiving this much-deserved award.
Faith was awarded the Code of Conduct and Champion Award for recognizing an emergency in the community where her quick response was potentially life-saving. Going above and beyond her regular duties personifies Faith. Furthermore, she is devoted to supporting the people in her care and graciously assists her fellow staff members.
From the Justice Center Executive Director Denise M. Miranda and Advisory Council Chair Bill Gettman:
"The job of a direct care worker requires them to be at their best every single day so they can support those in care. I am honored to be able to highlight these dedicated individuals who have left a lasting impression on their colleagues, the people they support, and all of us at the Justice Center. The care provided in New York is second to none thanks to their commitment to ensuring everyone lives self-directed lives free from abuse and neglect," said Miranda.
All direct care employees sign the Code of Conduct, which promises to help those supported "live self-directed meaningful lives in their communities, free from abuse and neglect, and protected from harm." Faith was one of only six people in the State of New York to be granted this award.
Faith has been on the Opengate team since 2001, and we are grateful for her diligence and compassion.
