All of our support professionals play a critical part in the success for our clients, and for our organization, by working closely with the individuals. Each person employed or who volunteers at Opengate is held to a standard of excellence to deliver exceptional care to all of our clients.
This week we honored our amazing Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and the work they do daily to support our individuals. They are literally the backbone of our agency and the heart and soul of all we do.
People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) are living longer and often expected to outlive parents who have provided for them and made all decisions concerning their care. When this happens, responsibility for the individual’s well-being falls upon a sibling or other designated family member. Although it’s hoped that families establish an advanced plan for care of the individual, frequently there is no plan in place.
Carolyn Newton’s smile and positive outlook has been an integral part of her position as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Opengate since 2013. She works with a contagious enthusiasm that is felt among those she cares for as well as her co-workers.
Julie Payne has recognized the worthiness and dignity of each individual in her care for over 10 years as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Opengate.
